REUNION JAMAICA
TASTING NOTES
VISUAL: gold
NOSE: at the beginning it is the Jamaican part of the blend which clearly takes the upper hand. Very ripe exotic fruits washed with solvent are no mistake. A certain organic side allows us to be as close as possible to the work of these distilleries which make rum in ways that are no longer made today. But we can also say that balance is required, thanks to a softer, caramelized veil of American oak. Aeration brings a delicious pastry register led by almond and kirsch. The notes of pine resin join the candied cherries, without falling into a riot of sweetness. Indeed, the copper of the still is there to tighten the profile, and even evolves into slightly mineral notes of gunflint.
MOUTH: power only has a brief moment to express itself, since gluttony immediately cuts it off. After a slightly organic and fermentative attack, the frangipane and cherry offer a riot of pastry and comforting flavors. The butterscotch adds a layer, it goes wonderfully with the brioche side of the rum. The dried banana then rubs shoulders with tobacco and vanilla, to make us melt for good. The finish is long and pastry, with some touches of resin and copper.
